Derrin Boyd Hits for 16 as Georgetown Improves to 3-0

Derrin Boyd scored 16 points Tuesday night as No. 15-ranked Georgetown College improved to 3-0 on the young basketball season.

Boyd and the Tigers turned back Midway University 78-55.

It was the third-straight home game to open the season for Georgetown.

The Tigers ran out to a 45-25 advantage at halftime on the way to the 23-point victory.

The former Caldwell County star was 7 of 12 from the field and made one of his three 3-point attempts. He converted his only free throw attempt.

Boyd added three rebounds, a block and a steal while playing 31 minutes in the Georgetown win.

Boyd, a sophomore at Georgetown, is now averaging 22.3 points a game this season.

Boyd and the Georgetown Tigers will go on the road for the first time next Tuesday night when they travel to Richmond to take on the Eastern Kentucky Colonels.
