Two plays later, Jack Stevens scored on a 1-yard quarterback keeper. The PAT was blocked, but Caldwell trailed just 14-6 at halftime.
However, a big break went Murray’s way early in the second half. With Caldwell crossing midfield on the opening drive of the third quarter, Caldwell’s Max Kramer was ruled to have fumbled near the Murray sideline even though he appeared to clearly be down on the play.
That took away any momentum Caldwell had been gaining, and gave Murray a gift turnover at its own 44.
Murray cashed in on that drive, going 56 yards on eight runs. Sokolowski carried the final 12 yards to the end zone to make it 20-6 at the 6:40 mark of the third quarter.

Caldwell did get on the scoreboard again on a 2-yard pitch from Stevens to Chambliss. That was set up by a 56-yard connection down the middle to Logan Smiley. But the score came with just 1:19 to play, cutting the Murray lead to 27-13.
