Alex Miller had to show his support for UK Saturday night and let Kentucky fans know he was true blue with this sign on his guitar.

Garrard County’s Alex Miller received national attention for his performances on American Idol that has led to the start of his national singing career.

However, the life-long University of Kentucky fan was even more thrilled to have a chance to sing the national anthem before Kentucky and Tennessee played Saturday night at Kroger Field.

“It’s something that you dream about but never think you’ll get to do,” said the 2021 Garrard County High School graduate, who had a “Go Cats” sign on his guitar. “Truly a thrill of a lifetime.

“It truly was a thrill to sing the national anthem at the UK-Tennessee game.”

This is also a big week for Miller. His latest single, “That’s What Christmas Is For,” premieres on People.com this week.

It is his first holiday release for Billy Jam Records. The Christmas song was written by Nashville’s C. Aaron Wilburn and Jerry Salley. The record is available for pre-order now with a Nov, 12 delivery.

“I’ve been a sucker for catchy holiday tunes since I first watched the movie Elf,” Miller said in a release about the new song. “I really liked the feel of this one – and all the memories of past Christmases it called up for me.”

Miller says he has always loved holidays. While attending Paint Lick Elementary School, Miller performed in several festive plays and musicals.

“Mainly it was to get out of English, math, and social studies,” Miller said. “But I actually learned quite a bit. I was in The Nutcracker for several years — once played a soldier and one year a tree. You can learn a lot about stage presence by playing a tree.”

This is Miller’s upcoming schedule:

Nov 12 – Hodgenville, KY – Lincoln Jamboree
Nov 18 – Greenville, TX – Texan Theater
Nov 19 – Buda, TX – Buck’s Backyard
Nov 20 – Arlington, TX – Arlington Music Hall
