
Jabrion Spikes had 18 points and seven rebounds as the Caldwell County Tigers picked up their first win of the season Thursday night.
The Tigers jumped out to a 13-2 lead and rolled past Ballard Memorial 62-45 at the CAB gym in Princeton
Caldwell led 17-5 after one quarter and took a 32-18 advantage to halftime.
An 11-2 burst to start the second half pushed the margin to 43-20. The Tigers led 50-27 through three quarters.
Back-to-back 3-pointers by Jack Englebright and Collin Whittington gave Caldwell its biggest lead of the night, 56-27, with 6:41 to play.
Whittington finished with 11 points for Caldwell while Dewey Riley had 10 points and eight rebounds.
Ballard (0-2) got a game-high 26 points from freshman Jace Birney.
Caldwell made 8 of 17 3-pointers in the contest while the Bombers were 7 of 21 from long range.
Caldwell held a 33-29 advantage on the glass.
The Tigers are now 1-1 after opening the season on Tuesday with a setback to University Heights Academy.
Thursday’s game was the first regular-season contest between the Tigers and the 1st Region school.
Caldwell will play at Union County on Saturday as part of the 6th District/7th District Shootout.
