
Lyon County hit Trigg County with an early blitz and went on to beat the Wildcats 78-55 in boys’ 5th District basketball action Tuesday night at Jason White Gymnasium in Eddyville.
The Lyons (3-1 overall, 1-0 district) scored the first 12 points of the game and led 16-2 midway through the opening stanza.
A pair of late Travis Perry 3-pointers helped Lyon build a 31-12 advantage after 8 minutes of action.
Perry finished the night with a game-high 33 points — 20 of those coming in the first half as the Lyons went to the locker room with a 45-25 lead at the intermission.
A Perry 3-pointer with 3:22 left in the game gave Lyon its biggest lead of the night at 78-47.
Perry was 12 of 19 from the floor, including 6 of 11 from behind the arc. He also had five assists, four rebounds and two steals in the contest.
Jackson Shoulders added another double-double for Lyon with 17 points and 10 rebounds while Jack Reddick had a double-double of his own with 10 points and 13 assists.
Reddick had 10 assists in the first half alone, and Lyon finished the night with 26 total assists on 32 made field goals.
Brady Shoulders added eight points, nine boards, five steals and four assists for the Lyons.
Trigg (3-2, 0-1) got 15 points from Kendric Adams. Jhaden Vaughn had 12 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and three blocked shots. Khyran Vaughn added nine points, six boards and three steals.
The Lyons next face Ashland Blazer of the 16th Region Friday night in the prestigious King of the Bluegrass at Louisville Fairdale.
The Wildcats also play on Friday, visiting Crittenden County as part of a 5th District girls and boys varsity doubleheader.
