Hopkinsville High junior Daisjaun Mercer was the only player selected on both offense and defense to the All-WKC Team.
This comes after a 2021 season that saw him add to his school-record total of interceptions with six, two of which he returned for touchdowns. Mercer has 18 career picks. The state record is 34 by Steve Shaw of Iroquois from 1979-81. However, he ranks fourth for career interceptions in WKC history.
On offense, he had over 40-percent of the Tigers’ receptions. He hauled in 44 passes for 1.127 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also ran the ball eight times for 108 yards and a touchdown.
Mercer says his production is simple — ‘it’s all about making plays.’
