Derrin Boyd had 21 points on Saturday as his Georgetown Tigers held off Cumberland University for a 74-68 victory Saturday afternoon in Lebanon, Tenn.
Cumberland made a late run, trimming a 19-point margin down to four. But Boyd slipped behind the press for a breakaway layup in the final minute to help the Tigers hang on.
Boyd was 8 of 13 from the field and also had seven rebounds, three steals and two assists in the contest.
Georgetown led 44-25 at halftime before Cumberland made things interesting late.
Georgetown now enters the holiday break, returning to action Jan. 3 at Campbellsville.
