Caldwell Wrestlers Go 4-0 to Claim Armstrong Classic Title

Caldwell County’s wrestlers rolled through four matches to claim the championship of the Armstrong Tiger Classic Saturday at the CAB gym.

Caldwell opened the day with a 58-9 victory over Hopkinsville.

Caldwell won five matches by pin — Logan Brown at 106 pounds, Cofy Walls at 126, Timothy Nichols at 144, Jackson Riley at 150 and Ethan Newsom at 157.

Collin Teutsch claimed an 8-0 decision at 120.

Earning forfeit wins were Riley Johnson at 132, Dylan Walls at 165, Colin Walls at 175 and Cole Sherill at 285.

Caldwell defeated Owensboro Catholic 65-6 in its next match.

The Tigers had nine pins in that match. Winning by pin were Brown at 106, Andre Carter at 113, Teutsch at 120, Cofy Walls at 126, Johnson at 132, Nichols at 144, Colin Walls at 175, Preston Rogers at 215 and Sherill at 285.

Dylan Walls claimed a 23-8 decision at 165.

Winning by forfeit were Riley at 150 and Newsom at 157.

Caldwell won over Ohio County 60-7.

Claiming pins in that win were Brown at 106, Teutsch at 120, Johnson at 132 and Newsom at 157.

Earning forfeit wins were Cofy Walls at 126, Dylan Walls at 165, Colin Walls at 175, Rogers at 215 and Sherill at 285.

Caldwell’s wrestlers finished the day with a 54-19 win over McCracken County.

Winning by pin were Brown at 106, Teutsch at 120, Johnson at 132, Newsom at 150, Dylan Walls at 165 and Colin Walls at 175.

Nichols claimed a 6-2 decision at 138 while Sherill won 4-0 at 285.

Riley won by default at 144.

Carter won by forfeit at 113.

Caldwell’s wrestlers are 14-1 in dual matches this season. The only loss came to Tolono Unity (Ill.) in Benton, Ill.

The Tiger matmen will be in action again on Thursday at Christian County.
