Georgetown’s Derrin Boyd is the Mid-South Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, conference officials announced Monday.

Boyd, a Caldwell County High School grad, averaged 20 points and seven rebounds per game in two Georgetown victories.

He scored 19 points while connecting on four of his seven shots from beyond the arc in the Tigers’ 76-57 victory over Lindsey Wilson. Boyd also held the Blue Raiders’ leading scorer to just two points in that contest.

Boyd then scored 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting in Georgetown’s 74-68 win over Cumberland.

He finished the week shooting 53.6 percent from the field and 83.3 percent from the charity stripe.

Boyd earns weekly honors for the first time this season and first time in his career.
