Christian Fellowship Gains First-Ever Win Over Trigg

12-22-rogers

In a game of spurts, Christian Fellowship had one more than Trigg County and claimed third place in the Community Christian Lady Warrior Classic Tuesday in Paducah.

Christian Fellowship’s 52-43 win over the Lady Wildcats was their first in 18 career meetings with Trigg County.

The Lady Eagles used a 10-2 first half run to grab a 21-9 lead as Trigg went eight minutes without a field goal.  Most of this was done with Trigg’s Olivia Noffsinger on the bench with three fouls.

However, Trigg rallied with an 11-4 run to end the half and get to within 25-20 at intermission.

The Lady Wildcats scored the first 15 points of the second half, feeding Marleigh Reynolds who scored eight straight points at one stretch to give Trigg a 35-30 lead.

Christian Fellowship then took the baton and countered with ten straight points for a 40-35 lead.

The five-minute scoring drought was too much for the Lady Wildcats to overcome as they never got to within three points the rest of the game.

Trigg’s 30 turnovers were also too much to overcome with most of them unforced mistakes that led to 26 Lady Eagle points.

While Trigg County outrebounded CFS 39-33, the Lady Eagles were aggressive on the offensive glass and scored 13 second-chance points.

Reynolds scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in being named to the all-tournament team.  Kara Hyde added 11 points, seven rebounds, and seven blocked shots.

Gracie Howard led Christian Fellowship with 22 points and 14 rebounds. Lily Burnett added a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Trigg County will play in the Murray Bank Lady Tiger Classic after Christmas.
