What has happened to Kentucky since it lost at Notre Dame? The Wildcats managed just 62 points at Notre Dame, missed 17 of 19 3-point shots and just looked out of sync in the four-point loss. The last two games — a 29-point win over North Carolina and 35-point win over Western Kentucky where the Cats scored 193 points.

“I think we’ve had an added chip on our shoulder. I think the Notre Dame game, I think when the season’s over and we look back at that game, we’ll be filled with gratitude,” UK guard Kellan Grady said after the win over Western Kentucky Wednesday. “We didn’t play great (at Notre Dame). They played well enough to win.

“We did some things, and it exposed some things that we just need to work on, and some of our weaknesses. We have responded and it’s frankly been a maturation process for us.”

Grady certainly is mature. He sounded like an assistant coach analyzing the win over Western Kentucky after he went 7-for-10 from the field and had 23 points in 34 minutes. The Davidson transfer is now averaging 11.2 points per game and shooting 47.5 percent (29 of 61) from 3-point range. No other UK player has made more than 14 3-pointers.

“I’m really proud to be a part of this team and to see the way we’ve responded. The biggest thing is the ball is flying around the court and we’re playing really fast,” Grady said.

“I think we had 27 assists today (against Western). That’s just incredible. I’m not sure the exact number against Carolina, but the ball was moving. As evidenced by today and against Carolina, it just leads to great shots and a lot of fun.

“You can see the joy that we’re playing with. So, a combination of all those factors have led to our success the last two games.”

Stats against cupcake teams translates to nothing. Carolina barely beat Brown.
Of course by now the big center is off to the promise land of a multi zillion $ contract

    Merry Christmas

    1. Nobody really cares about your negativity. No matter what Calipari does, guys like you will find something to carp about. Better off that you go be a fan of the Dirty Birds….

    1. Well kneeling for the anthem/flag last year was my what. So until all players are gone from that team who cares.

  2. They have looked better of late, hope it continues.
It has been so refreshing to have some experienced players on the court. It will be a fun season even if we don’t get to hang another banner.
When we played ND the offense was stagnant and there wasn’t nearly enough movement.
The easiest player to guard is the player that doesn’t move!
