
The Todd County Central Lady Rebels will go into the New Year on a two-game winning streak. The Lady Rebels used a second-quarter offensive explosion to roll past University Heights Academy 58-20 in the Zaxby’s Christmas Classic at Todd County Central High School.
After scoring the first five points of the game, the Lady Rebels scored the final six points of the first quarter to take a 15-5 lead. Abby Williams scored seven points in the opening quarter to help get Todd Central rolling. From the beginning of the game, the Lady Blazers would have trouble with the Todd Central pressure defense and that would continue in the second quarter.
Todd Central then opened the second quarter on a 17-2 run to blow the lead out to 32-7. By the time the half was over, the Lady Rebels had scored 28 points in the second quarter and taken a 43-8 lead into the locker room at the break. Abby Williams ended the half with 15 points, while Alexis Taylor added 11.
With the margin at 35 points at the half, the entire second half was played under the running clock rule. Todd County Central starters spent the entire second half on the bench as Coach Matt Fraliex used the opportunity to get extensive playing time for his younger players.
Todd Central would lead 50-15 after three and then cruise on out for the final 38 point margin.
Abby Willilams led the Lady Rebels with 15 points, while Alexis Taylor scored 11. All of their points were scored in the first half of play.
Alecia Davis was the only Lady Blazer to reach double figures with 12 points. Amaryia Bass added four for UHA.
Todd County Central moves to 5-6 with the win. The Lady Rebels will return to action January 4 when they host Ohio County.
UHA drops to 1-7 with the loss. The Lady Blazers are back in action Wednesday when they take on Montgomery Central in the Zaxby’s Christmas Classic.
