The Christian County Colonels made it two wins in a row Tuesday. The Colonels got off to a quick start and then held off a Daviess County rally to take a 52-46 win over the Panthers in the Henderson Chevrolet, Buick, GMC Classic.
Jordan Miles and Trez Vaughn came out firing as the Colonels took an 18-5 lead after the opening quarter. Miles and Vaughn combined to score 14 of the Colonels 18 points.
The Christian County defense held Daviess County to under 10 points again in the second quarter, as the Colonels held a 26-13 lead at the break.
The two teams continued to play fairly even as the second half got underway. The Colonels got big quarters from Derrell Bateman and Jordan Miles in the third as Christian County looked to have things firmly in hand, leading 40-25 when the quarter ended.
Daviess County would push to get back in the game in the final eight minutes. The Colonels got timely free throw shooting from Breland Morrison to help hold the Panthers off as the Colonels took the six-point win.
Jordan Miles led Christian County with 16 points. Breland Morrison and Derrell Bateman added 11 each.
Gage Phelps was the leading scorer for Daviess County with 12 points. Cole Burch also hit double figures with 11.
Christian County improves to 4-5 with the win.
