Cathryn Brown has not made it a secret that she wanted to play her college golf at the University of Kentucky. From her UK golf bag to her UK visor and UK polo shirts that make regular appearances during her rounds of golf.
On Wednesday, the secret became reality as the Lyon County junior committed to play golf for the University of Kentucky.
For Cathryn, it’s a chance to play Division I golf at the same school as her late brother Cullan, who was named to the All-SEC freshman team before dying of a rare form of bone cancer in August 2020.
Cathryn earned second-team All-State honors by the Kentucky Golf Coaches Association in 2021.
She was also named to the All-Region team. Brown claimed invitational wins at Marshall County and Bowling Green and finished 10th at the prestigious Kentucky All-State tournament.
Brown captured the Region 1 championship and finished third at the KHSAA State Golf Tournament in Bowling Green.
Prior to her junior season, Brown finished in fourth place at the Kentucky Girls Junior Amateur Tournament.
As a sophomore, Brown placed 5th at the region golf tournament and went on to record a 7th place finish at the girls’ state tournament.
