A tough Saturday for the Christian County Colonels as they dropped a pair of contests in the Evansville Harrison Warrior Showcase. The Colonels fell to Evansville Bosse 69-53, and then dropped a 71-53 decision to Castle.

Against Bosse, it was a story of too much Jameer Ajibade. The Bulldog senior torched the nets for 40 points in leading Bosse to the 16 point win. Christian County, behind the efforts of Derrell Bateman and Breland Morrison, took an 18-10 after the first quarter. Ajibade and Jabbar Davis rallied Bosse to within 35-32 at the half.

Ajibade then took over the game in the third quarter, scoring 19 points as the Bulldogs caught and then passed the Colonels to take a 56-46 lead.

The Bosse defense would then limit Christian County to just seven points over the final eight minutes as they pulled away to the 16 point win. The Bulldog defense did the job on Christian County’s Jordan Miles, holding the Colonels’ starting point guard scoreless in the game.

Breland Morrison would finish with 20 points for Christian County, while Derrell Bateman added 18.

In the game against Castle, the Knights took the lead early and kept the Colonels at arm’s length for the course of the game on their way to a 71-53 win.

Castle led 21-9 after the opening quarter. The lead would be at 36-23 as the two teams headed to the break.

The Colonels would trim the lead to 51-40 headed into the final quarter, but could not make a final push towards the lead as they would end up falling by 18.

Jordan Miles had a big game for Christian County, finishing with 24 points. Breland Morrison added 8 points for the Colonels.

The losses drop Christian County to 4-12 on the season. The Colonels are set to return to action Monday night when they go on the road to take on McCracken County.
