Lady Storm Pulls Away From Caldwell in 7th District Tilt

Hopkins County Central’s girls took control of Monday’s game against Caldwell County in the second quarter and went on claim a 77-46 victory in 7th District play at Mortons Gap.

Caldwell led only 2-0 before eight straight points put the Lady Storm in front.

Hopkins Central (11-3 overall, 2-0 district) took a 17-9 lead after one quarter, then stretched the margin to 37-17 at halftime.

The Lady Storm held a 60-27 advantage through three quarters and went up by as much as 37 points in the fourth period.

Brooklyn Clark had 16 points to lead five Lady Storm players in double figures. Calajia Mason and Emile Jones each had 12 points while Brianna Fritz and Mercy Sutton tallied 10 points apiece.

Caldwell (4-10, 0-1) was led by Parris Gray’s 20 points. Katy Smiley had 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Tigers.

Caldwell next visits district foe Dawson Springs on Thursday.

Hopkins Central travels to district rival Madisonville-North Hopkins on Friday.
