
Through two quarters on Tuesday night, the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers hung in with visiting Northwest, TN, but a 3rd quarter scoring drought proved too much to overcome in a 75-49 loss to the Vikings.
The Lady Tigers slip to 2-9 overall and will hope to bounce back when they travel to face 8th-District rivals Christian County on Friday.
Donnisha Flowers scored nine 1st-quarter points, including the first eight for the Lady Tigers, and they led 12-10 after four-straight points for LaTaijha Cherry.
However, Northwest closed the quarter on an 8-1 run for an 18-13 advantage with 11 combined points for Emiyah Cobb and Kayla Howell.
Northwest stretched the advantage to double digits in the 2nd quarter, but Shiyah Forte put up seven points to keep the Lady Tigers within striking distance. The Vikings took a 32-24 advantage into the halftime break.
Northwest put the game away in the 3rd, outscoring the Lady Tigers 21-9 to build a 20-point margin. After only posting four points in the 1st half, Tamia Scott tossed in 11 to lead the Viking attack.
Scott continued to dominate in the 4th with 12 more points to finish with a game-high 27. Kahtahvia Fleming scored seven for Hoptown but the Vikings led by as many as 32 before the Lady Tigers trimmed it to the final 26-point margin.
