Union County Hands Caldwell County 2nd Dual Match Loss

Caldwell County has had a great season on the wrestling mat but Union County is the 18-time defending Region 1 champion.

The Tigers hosted the Braves for Senior Night action Thursday at the CAB gym, but Union County rolled to a 66-5 victory.

It was just Caldwell’s second loss in a dual match this season. Union is unbeaten in dual matches this year.

Caldwell lost one match in overtime on Thursday and saw Union pull out two other matches in the closing seconds.

Caldwell’s only win came from senior Riley Johnson, who won his match at 132 pounds by pin in 1:10.

Johnson is undefeated this season, now sporting a 37-0 record.

Caldwell’s wrestlers will compete in tournament action Saturday at Paducah Tilghman.
