
It was all Tigers all the time on Tuesday when the Hopkinsville boys’ basketball team hosted 8th District foe Fort Campbell, nearly triggering a running clock in the 1st quarter on the way to a 74-15 victory.
The Tigers win their eighth in a row to improve to 12-4 overall with a visit from University Heights Academy coming up on Friday.
Fort Campbell slips to 2-12 and will also face district competition on Thursday when they host Christian County.
Antonio Williams and Isaiah Manning dominated the paint in the opening quarter, combining for 16 points to lead the Tigers to a 33-0 lead.
Dakevius Lewis finally got the Falcons on the board when he hit one of two free throws with a minute played in the 2nd. Hopkinsville triggered the running clock early in the quarter and led 49-3 at the halftime break.
Aiden Blaszkowski knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and scored eight points for the Falcons in the 3rd, but Daisjaun Mercer matched him from behind the arc and Bubba Leavell added five to give the Tigers a 69-13 advantage with a quarter to play.
The teams combined for only seven points in the final frame and the Tigers held the ball for the last couple of minutes to move to 2-0 in district play.
