A slow start was a bit too much for the Christian County Lady Colonels to overcome on the road Tuesday night. The Lady Colonels scored only four points in the first quarter and could not dig out of that hole as they fell to Union County 67-49. The loss was the 5th straight for Christian County.

The Bravettes defense gave up just one field goal and two free throws in the opening quarter. Meanwhile, at the offensive end, Madison Morris scored seven on her own as she helped lead Union County to a 16-4 lead.

While Christian County’s offense was able to get itself on track a bit in the second quarter, the Lady Colonels could not find a way to slow down Amelia Mackey and her teammates. Mackey scored nine in the second as Union County pushed the lead out to 36-18 at the half.

Union County used the “long ball” to turn back any hopes of a Lady Colonel rally in the third quarter. The Bravettes knocked down four three-pointers in the quarter as the lead grew to 52 to 29 going into the final eight minutes.

The Lady Colonels would end up outscoring Union County 20-15 over the final eight minutes of the game but the deficit was just too much to overcome by that point of the game.

Mikayah Killebrew had a solid night for the Lady Colonels with 20 points. Anaysia Bagwell was the only other Christian County player to reach double figures with 13, 9 of them coming in the second half.

The Bravetttes were led by Amelia Mackey, who finished the night with 23 points. Mati Hagan added eleven for Union County.

Christian County falls to 5-12 with the loss. The Lady Colonels are back in action Thursday at Fort Campbell.

Union County improves to 11-9. The Bravettes will travel to Henderson County Friday night.
