Coming off a road win Friday night at Calloway County, the Christian County Lady Colonels were looking to put together back-to-back wins for the first time this season as they hosted Apollo Saturday afternoon. However, a frosty cold 2nd quarter was a bit too much for the Lady Colonels to overcome as the E-Gals took a 50-36 win.

Christian County came out and took an 11-9 lead at the end of the first quarter. Caitlin Steele and NeVaeh Day combined to score nine points in the quarter for the Lady Colonels.

The game would turn in a big way in the second quarter. The Apollo defense would allow the Lady Colonels just one field goal in the quarter as the E-Gals stormed back to take a 27-13 halftime lead. That blitz would be one that Christian County would not be able to get back on track from.

Christian County’s defense did come out in the third quarter and hold Apollo to just five points and the Lady Colonels would cut the lead to 32-23 going into the final quarter.

With Christian County cranking up the pressure trying to make a push to get back in the game, Apollo was able to knock down 10 of 12 at the free-throw line to seal the win.

No Lady Colonel reached double figures in the contest. Caitlin Steele, NeVaeh Day, and Sarah Harris had 8 points apiece. Day also had 15 rebounds.

Apollo was led by Shelbie Beatty with 20. Amaya Curry added 17 points for the E-Gals.

Christian County drops to 6-13 on the season. They will get back to action Monday when they host Warren Central.
