Despite a 1st-quarter lead and a tight game at halftime, the Heritage Christian Academy girls’ basketball team couldn’t keep pace with visiting Lakeside Christian in a 51-30 loss on Saturday.
The Lady Warriors led 8-4 behind four points from Bailey Craft before Libby Lewis closed the 1st quarter with a 3-pointer for Lakeside to cut the HCA lead to a point.
Craft added six more in the 2nd for a 10-point 1st half, but Lakeside took a three-point edge after four straight points for Lewis. The Lady Warriors trailed 19-16 as they went into the halftime break.
Lewis and Samantha Pecco combined for 10 points in the 3rd and Lakeside continued to pad the lead. Craft scored four more but HCA was held to only seven and faced a double-digit deficit with a quarter to play.
Lakeside’s Hailey McKenzie outscored the Lady Warriors by herself with 10 points in the 4th to extinguish any hope of an HCA comeback.
The Lady Warriors slip to 3-12 overall and will return to their home court on Tuesday for a visit from Pleasant View.
