Jacob East liked the campus and atmosphere of Campbellsville University to continue his football career. It also didn’t hurt that his high school coach used to coach there and provided some added input.
The Christian County High School senior signed with Campbellsville Wednesday, with Colonel head coach and former CU assistant Rick Gehres standing nearby.
East played guard for a Colonel offensive unit that improved as the season progressed under Gehris in his first season as head coach. East also liked that Gehres used some of the same offensive schemes that Campbellsville uses, making the learning curve easier.
East said he plans to study nursing in college.
Campbellsville is an NAIA school that competes in the Mid-South Conference.
