It was a start to the game that John Stigall would like to bottle up and use again sometime. Todd County Central scored the first 25 points of the game and rolled to a 65-32 district win over Russellville Wednesday at Rebel Gym.
In a microcosm of Russellville’s night, the Panthers were issued a technical foul at the start of the game for dunking during pregame warm-ups. It only got worse from there as the Rebels tied a school record by shutting out the Panthers 20-0 in the first quarter, capped by a 3-pointer by Jacob Brandon before the horn.
Todd would score the first five points of the second quarter before the Panthers got on the board. The Rebels extended its first half lead to 35-3 and led 45-11 at halftime.
The running clock kicked in midway through the third quarter as the Panthers handed Russellville its worst loss in the series since an 82-46 Rebel win in 2017.
Todd County Central hit 10 three-pointers in the game and showed no ill effects from playing its third game this week. Preston Moore led the Rebels with 14 points, and Jamison Glass and Trayvon Foster each scored 11.
Russellville, who has had three starters leave the team since December, got 13 points from Eli McMurray.
The teams are scheduled to play again Friday night in Russellville weather permitting.
