It was a solid way for the Christian County Colonels to put an end to their brief two-game losing skid. The Colonels finished out strong and picked up a 53-47 road win at Butler County Monday night.
The win for the Colonels came against a Butler County team that was looking for its 15th win of the year.
Behind a good start from Breland Morrison, the Colonels took a 13-10 lead after the opening quarter.
The Colonels looked to have things going in their direction in the second quarter. The defense limited the Bears to just one field goal while Derrell Bateman caught fire on the offensive end. By the half, the Colonels found themselves up 29-18.
To the Bears’ credit, they did not pack up and go away. With Jagger Henderson, Brody Hunt, and Colton Tichenor leading the charge, back came Butler County. By the end of the third, the Christian County lead had been cut to two points at 42-40.
However, the Colonels would fend off the Bears to pick up the six-point road win.
Breland Morrison and Derrell Bateman scored 14 points each for the Colonels. Jordan Miles added nine points.
Jagger Henderson had 16 points to top the scoring column for Butler County.
Christian County now moves to 7-17 on the year. The Colonels are back on the road Tuesday at Whitesville Trinity.
