
Marshall County put together some solid finishes in the pool Saturday at the Region I Swim Meet at Hopkinsville High School and finished in fourth place – their best finish in five years.
Garrett DeSanty was third in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:15.86 and fifth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:09.58).
Harper Horton was fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:29.01 and sixth in the 200-yard IM (2:51.89)
Anders DeSanty was sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:29.51) and seventh in the 200-yard IM (3:13.37)
Skyler Winsett was seventh in the 200-yard freestyle (2:43.41)
Josh Rushing was eighth in the 50-yard freestyle (26.50) and ninth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:04.23)
Ryan Thompson was tenth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:04.70)
The 400-yard free relay team of Harper Holton, Ethan Moshure, Skyler Winsett, and Anders DeSanty was fourth with a time of 5:09.45.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Josh Rushing, Clint Walker, Ryan Thompson, and Garrett DeSanty finished 5th in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:50.02.
Marshall County’s point total of 211 points was six behind third place McCracken County and 20 more than fifth place Fort Campbell.
Sunday’s region meet at the Rick Cohn Aquatic Center was delayed two days due to the winter weather that left many roads in western Kentucky ice covered. Because of the delay, the preliminary round was scratched and Sunday’s event was a timed final.
First and second place finishers automatically qualify for the KHSAA Boys’ State Swimming Championships presented by UK HealthCare on February 18 at the University of Kentucky. The next 22 fastest times statewide will also qualify.
