The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers continued their perfect run in 8th District play Tuesday night. Hoptown used a 20-0 first half run to get the game under control and then rolled on to a 63-23 win over the University Heights Academy Lady Blazers in Blazer Gym.
UHA actually scored first in the game on a basket from Amaryia Bass to take a 2-0 lead. Over the rest of the first quarter and the beginning of the second, Hopkinsville scored the next twenty points to take a 20-2 lead early in the second.
The Lady Tigers would continue to hold the Lady Blazers without a field goal for the rest of the half and took a 34-11 lead into the break. It could have been even worse for the Lady Blazers had they not knocked down 9 of 18 at the free throw line.

Hoptown’s size and strength took its toll on UHA in the first half. Shiyah Forte, LaTaiijah Cherry, and JaChia Pendleton were able to roam the paint at will, controlling the boards, and getting a bucket full of second, third, and sometimes even fouth shot opportunities.
The beginning of the second half saw more of the same. The Lady Blazers would get their second field goal of the night with 5:55 to go in the third quarter. While the Lady Tigers were not exactly blistering the nets, they were able to get enough done, inside and outside, to extend the lead to 47-17 heading into the final quarter.
Hopkinsville opened the final quarter on an 11-4 run to bring the running clock into play with just under five minutes left to go in the game.

Faith Dansbury led the way for Hopkinsville with 16 points. LaTaijah Cherry added 11, while Donisha Flowers also reached double figures with ten.
UHA was led by Amaryia Bass with 10 points. Alicia Davis finished the night with seven points for the Lady Blazers.
Hopkinsville improves to 10-10 overall and 5-0 in district play.
UHA falls to 4-16 and 1-3.
