When Caldwell County’s girls visited Madisonville-North Hopkins a couple of weeks ago, the result was a 67-28 rout by the Lady Maroons.

When the teams met again Thursday night in Princeton, Caldwell was much more competitive. But Madisonville was still able to take control of the contest in the third quarter on the way to a 71-57 victory.

The Lady Tigers were within 22-20 late in the first half before the Lady Maroons got to halftime with a 29-22 advantage.

A 26-16 margin in the third quarter helped Madisonville stretch its lead to 55-38 entering the final frame.

Caldwell (10-14 overall, 2-4 district) got back as close as 10 points late before the Lady Maroons (18-5, 4-0) finished off the 14-point triumph.

Madisonville used a balanced offensive attack, led by 18 points from Destiny Whitsell and 17 from Camryn LaGrange. Jaycee Noffsinger added 13 points and Amari Lovan added 11.
