The Christian County Colonels will head into the postseason on a positive note. The Colonels traveled to Apollo Thursday night and came away with a 66-44 win.
After a slow start for both teams in the opening quarter, which saw Christian County take a 9-8 lead, the Colonels seized control of the contest in the 2nd quarter. With Breland Morrison and Derrell Bateman leading the way, Christian County would extend the lead out to 26-16 going into the break. The duo combined to score 18 of the Colonels’ first half points.
The Colonels came out of the break and promptly heated up from three-point territory. Christian County would knock down four shots from behind the arc in the third quarter as the lead grew to 51-35.
Apollo would never seriously threaten the rest of the game as the Colonels rode it on out to the final 22 point margin.
Derrell Bateman topped the scoring list for Christian County with 16 points. Jordan Miles added 12. Breland Morrison and K.J. Vaughn finished with 10 points each.
Zjhan Tutt was the leading scorer for the Eagles with 17 points. Eli Masterson ended up with 15 points.
Christian County ends the regular season with a record of 9-20 and now gets ready for an 8th District semifinal matchup against University Heights.
