Kentucky offensive coordinator Liam Coen’s name continues to circulate as the next offensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Rams — the team he left after the 2020 season to join Mark Stoops’ staff at Kentucky.
New Kentucky offensive line coach Zach Yenser just left the San Francisco 49ers and knew Coen through their mutual time in the NFL. He says it has been “business as usual” for Coen since he arrived from the 49ers to join the staff.
“Liam is here and installing for spring ball,” Yenser said on Sunday Morning Sports Talk on WLAP (630 AM). “We are meeting with guys as much as we are allowed to.
“Liam, when I got here, his name started circulating after the Super Bowl. It’s just part of the business. But as a staff, we are full steam ahead.”
Yenser said he talked to Coen Saturday when they were on the phone recruiting an offensive lineman.
“It’s just business as usual,” Yenser emphasized. “We are about 10-12 days before spring ball starts March 1. He is installing and I am installing (schemes). I am excited to work with him.
“This offense is very intriguing. It’s a pro-style offense that puts guys in great spots to have success. I believe in this offense.”

Looks like Coen bailed. I can’t understand wanting to live in L.A. He will be OC in name only. McVay calls the plays. Good luck to him.
just coaching in the NFL is a big deal to many and maybe him and his wife just like the California lifestyle
LA LA land ain’t so bad if you’re coaching the defending Super Bowl champ and making mucho $$$$$$$$. Come on people !
Plus, he plugs right in – which is a huge asset for Liam & the team.
Hope we keep this amicable – he’d make a great head coach @ UK someday !
No way can blame Liam for making this move
Well, maybe so, but it sort of puts UK in a spot now, don’t it? With such a promising future, and a ton of talent coming in to play for this guy. How does this play out for kids who wanted to play in his offense? For one thing, he was developing Will Levis into a real SEC QB. Secondly, he was running this offense like a well oiled machine, and thirdly, he had the whole team, and the whole BBN behind him, and looking forward to 2022. Don’t tell me this could not change this UK team’s trajectory if the next hire is a bust. Hey, he went for the money and resume building for the NFL, end of subject, just another "one and done." For once I would like to see one of these hot shot coaches show some loyalty to a program that gave him a chance. Quite frankly, I gave up on the NFL a long time ago. All I care about is UK football. He was getting paid real well at Kentucky. But hey, it’s a free country. Hope Coach gets this next hire right in my only thought right now.
