
Caldwell County tennis coach Torey Hammett received his certificate last week for being named a 2021 Boys’ Coach of the Year Finalist by the Kentucky High School Tennis Coaches Association.
The Tigers won the 2nd Region boys’ team title last spring while also claiming the boys’ doubles championship.
Jordan Hammett and Ryan Hammett, the coach’s sons, won the doubles title.
Also advancing to state for the Tigers was the doubles tandem of Billy Wallace and Grayden Miller.
Bryce Thompson and Nick Adams represented Caldwell in singles action at the regional tournament in Henderson.
The regional tennis championship team and coach Hammett were recognized at halftime of Caldwell’s final regular-season basketball game against Crittenden County on Friday.
Greenwood’s Tim Dethridge was named the 2021 KYHSTCA Boys’ Coach of the Year.
Caldwell is scheduled to open the 2022 tennis season on Monday, March 7, with a home match against Paducah St. Mary.
