Pairings are now set for the 2nd Region girls’ basketball tournament which will get underway Monday night. The pairings were set during a Zoom meeting of school officials Saturday morning.
In the first round of play, the district winners will host the games at 6:30pm Monday.
The top half of the bracket will find Henderson County, the champions of the 6th District, hosting 8th District runner-up Christian County. The northern Lady Colonels come into the tournament with a record of 21-4, while the Lady Colonels from the south are 12-18. The two met on January 15 at Christian County with Henderson County picking up a 70-38 win.
The second game in the upper half of the bracket will find Madisonville-North Hopkins, 7th District champs, hosting 5th District runner-up Lyon County. The Lady Maroons are 24-5 on the season, while Lyon County, the 2nd Region All A champion, comes in at 16-14. The two teams played February 1 in Eddyille with the Lady Maroons picking up a 30 point win.
In the bottom half of the bracket, Hopkinsville, the champions out of the 8th District will be hosting 6th District runner-up Webster County. The Lady Tigers head into the tournament with a record of 15-12, while the Lady Trojans are 17-11. The two teams did not meet in the regular season.
The bottom game of the bracket has 5th District champs Crittenden County hosting the 7th District runner-up Hopkins County Central. The Lady Rockets are 22-7, while the Lady Storm comes into the regional at 18-10. Crittenden County beat Hopkins Central by seven points on February 15 in Marion.
The semifinals will be at 6:00 and 7:30 Wednesday night. The championship game is scheduled for Friday night at 7:00pm. The semifinals and finals will be played at Madisonville-North Hopkins.
Tickets will be $10.00. Online ticketing is used at Crittenden County and Henderson County. Cash at the gate will be accepted for games at Hopkinsville and Madisonville.
