Former Caldwell County Tiger Derrin Boyd and his Georgetown Tigers will play for the Mid-South Conference championship Monday night in Bowling Green.
Boyd hit five 3-pointers as part of his game-high 25 points as Georgetown rolled past Shawnee State 89-67 Sunday night in the semifinals.
He also had eight rebounds, seven assists and two steals.
Boyd was named the H&W Sports Player of the Game.
Down 27-25 in the first half, the Tigers used a 20-2 blitz over the final 7-plus minutes of the half to get to the break with a 45-29 advantage.
The Tigers shot 52.9 percent from the field in the first half while making 8 of 16 from 3-point range.
Boyd finished the night 8 of 14 from the field while making five of his seven 3-point attempts. He made all four of his free throw tries.
Boyd had 15 points on Friday in Georgetown’s 81-64 quarterfinal win over Freed-Hardeman.
Third-seeded Georgetown (24-7) will take on top-seeded Thomas More (27-3) at 8:00 Monday night in the Mid-South championship game at Bowling Green Arena.
