Pitchers Rule in Hopkinsville vs Trigg Baseball Scrimmage

Pitching was the story of the evening in the scrimmage between the Hopkinsville Tigers and the Trigg County Wildcats. The two squads played to a 3-3 tie through 8 ½ innings of action Wednesday night at Hopkinsville High School.

Neither team scored until Trigg tallied a run in the top of the 5th. The Wildcats would add one more in the top of the 6th to go up 2-0.

Hoptown tallied in the bottom of the 7th to make it 2-1, which is how the game would have ended in the regular season.

The Tigers scored two runs without the benefit of a hit in the bottom of the 8th.

Matthew Leeper doubled to lead off the top of the 9th and would later score on a sac fly to end the scoring for the night at 3-3.

Trigg pitchers combined for 13 strikeouts in the game, led by starter Isaac Peca with seven.

Hoptown pitchers had 17 strikeouts over nine innings of work. Starter Preston Chaudoin, along with Jacob Dilday and Landon Cook had four strikeouts each for Hoptown.

Landon Cook’s double was the only hit for Hopkinsville.

Matthew Leeper had a hit and scored two runs for Trigg County. Tyler Ahart had a hit and a run scored. Trigg County totaled five hits in the scrimmage.
