Henderson County dialed up a long-distance attack to keep its stranglehold on the girls’ 2nd Region championship trophy.

The Lady Colonels made 11 3-pointers Friday night while running past Webster County 53-33 in the regional title tilt at Madisonville-North Hopkins’ Maroon Gym.

It’s the fourth-straight championship for Henderson, which has now won nine of the last 10 region titles.

Graci Risley buried seven shots from behind the arc and finished with 23 points to lead Henderson (24-4), which will carry a 17-game winning streak into the 2022 Mingua Beef Jerky Girls’ Sweet 16 State Basketball Tournament at Rupp Arena in Lexington next week.

Kaytlan Kemp added 10 for the Lady Colonels, who grabbed the lead in the first quarter and never gave it up.

Henderson led 17-13 after one period and 32-22 at halftime. It was 43-26 through three quarters.

Webster (19-12) led for part of the opening frame and was within 14-13 before Risley’s 3-pointer from the wing at the buzzer gave Henderson its 17-13 advantage.

The Lady Trojans got 13 points from Raigan Price, but could never make a run at the Lady Colonels after falling behind by 10 at the break.

The all-6th District final was the fourth matchup of the two teams this season — all won by Henderson.

The Lady Colonels will play the 11th Region winner Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. Eastern time in the first round of the state tourney. Lexington Lafayette and Franklin County will play for the 11th Region title Saturday afternoon.

Henderson reached the state semifinals a year ago.
