Whether you encounter Ella Brown on the tennis court, or now in the swimming pool, you will find that she is a talented and tough competitor. When you get the chance to meet and talk to her in person off the tennis courts, or outside of the competitive swimming pool, you will find out that Ella is a smart, talented young lady with a heart for others, and one of the nicest people you could ever ask to meet. And this week, she is our Chick-fil-A “Triple A.”

Her athletic accomplishments are pretty well known. Ella, along with doubles partner Grasen Givens, after losing their 2020 tennis season, qualified for the 2021 state tournament as part of the region champion tennis team, and won their opening match over a duo from Scott High School. Ella is now kicking off her junior season on the courts.

Also, during the winter sports season, Ella decided to join the Hopkinsville High School swim team for her first season of varsity competition. She notes that she took up swimming this year to condition for tennis and ended up falling in love with the sport, and was able to drop 10 seconds off her time at this year’s regional swim meet.

Ella, 2nd from right, and her sister Morgan, 2nd from left, both swam for Hopkinsville in 2022.

Off the court, Ella Brown is a standout in the classroom and in life in general. Ella carries a 4.0 gpa and is a dual credit student, taking classes at Hopkinsville Community College. She has received All A honor roll award/principals list recognition for 3 years in high school. Ella was also presented the Governor’s Scholars program “High Achiever” award.

Her achievements at Hopkinsville High School are not limited to the confines of the classroom. Ella is a member of the National Honor Society, where she serves as the historian. She is a junior representative for Beta. Beta is an academic honors program with a strong emphasis on leadership and community service. It was founded in 1934 by Dr. John W. Harris, a Wofford College professor. Its motto is “Let Us Lead By Serving Others.”

Ella is involved with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Hopkinsville High School Student Council, and Health Occupations Students of America. It is a future health professional student organization that focuses on the development of leadership and technical HOSA skill competencies through a program of motivation, awareness, and recognition, which is an integral part of the Health Science Education instructional program.

Then there is her heart for others. Ella says she loves volunteer work such as ringing the bell for the Salvation Army, going to the Challenge House, and doing crafts, or playing with the kids.

And living her faith is a big part of her life as well. Ella has been a part of mission trips every summer for the past 4 summers and worked on construction projects such as replacing a roof or painting a house. For the mission trip, she notes that she is with a group of people from other churches from other states and is able to make connections with those people and the homeowner who is the beneficiary of the mission project. She is also active in her youth group at church.

As for the future, Ella says she would like to play tennis in college and then would like to be a travel nurse.

Yep, Ella Brown is most certainly a “Triple A” and is this week’s honoree.
