Colonels Rally for 7-5 Scrimmage Win Over Todd Central

As the temperature dropped on Tuesday the bats heated up in a scrimmage matchup between Christian County and Todd County Central, with the Colonels using a five-run sixth to top the Rebels 7-5.

Both starters pitched well for three scoreless innings before the fireworks began.  Lane Gamble allowed a single hit with two strikeouts and a pair of walks for the Colonels.  Jase Hampton went 3.2 innings and yielded an unearned run with three walks and seven strikeouts for the Rebels.

With the Colonels leading 2-1 in the fifth, Todd Central took the lead on back-to-back RBI doubles by Preston Rager and Hampton. 

The Rebels added a run in the sixth for a 5-2 advantage, before Christian County opened the bottom of the frame with four-straight singles.

Trailing 5-4, Hayden Hunt came through with a two-run double to put the Colonels in front and eventually came home for the final run on a single by Bobby Irving.

Gage Montes worked three innings to pick up the win, allowing five earned runs on seven hits with six strikeouts and a walk.

Hunt, Preston Phan, and Brylle Javier each had two hits for the Colonels.  Hunt and Jacob Jenkins each drove in two, Javier had an RBI, and so did Irving.

Will Kearns took the loss for Todd Central, with six earned runs on nine hits with three strikeouts.

Hampton finished with three hits and a run driven in, Rager had two RBI, and Jacob Brandon and Tanner Farmer each knocked in a run.
