Graves Uses Big 7th to Pick Up Scrimmage Win Over Christian County

The Christian County Colonels hung in until the very end in their final preseason scrimmage Thursday night in Mayfield, but then the bottom fell out. Graves County plated seven runs in the bottom of the 7th inning as they picked up an 8-1 win.

Graves County held a 1-0 lead going into the top of the 7th. The Eagles had scored in the bottom of the fourth, taking advantage of a pair of walks and an RBI single.

The Colonels tied the game in the top of the 7th when Josh Snorton and Brylie Javier connected on back-to-back doubles.

The first five batters in the bottom of the seventh for Graves County reached base on a walk, hit by pitch, hit by pitch, hit by pitch, and an error. Another walk, a single, and a wild pitch would finish the game as the Eagles pushed the lead out to 8-1, which is where the scrimmage ended.

Elijah Underhill was 2-3 for the Colonels with a pair of doubles. Snorton and Javier were each 1-3, with Snorton scoring a run, and Javier driving in one.

On the mound, starter Aiden Lewis had a solid outing for the Colonels, going three innings, giving up no runs, on one hit, striking out three, and walking one.

Elijah Underhill pitched three innings. He gave up one run on one hit, striking out four, while walking two.
