While Henderson County’s girls’ basketball season ended earlier than it would have liked this week at the state basketball tournament, Lady Colonel Coach Jeff Haile received some good news Thursday.
Haile has been named to the latest class of the Kentucky High School Basketball Hall of Fame.
Haile took over a Henderson County program in 1986 that had never won a district championship. Upon his arrival, the Lady Colonels won six straight titles from 1986-92.
Haile owns 25 district titles and 18 regional titles with the Lady Colonels winning 15 of the last 18 region championships.
Henderson County has made five appearances in the Sweet 16 semifinals under Haile.
In his 36 seasons at the helm of the Henderson County program, Haile has won 810 games and lost just 244. He is just 77 wins away from becoming the state’s all-time coaching wins leader. Randy Napier won 886 games at M.C. Napier High and Perry County Central.
Haile is part of the 10th anniversary class of the hall of fame class that will be inducted on Saturday, August 13th at the State Theatre in Elizabethtown.
