Lady Colonels Blank Graves County in Season Opener

It was an impressive start to the new season for the Christian County Lady Colonels. Riley Hancock and Gracie Harned combined to throw a two-hit shutout as the Lady Colonels rolled past Graves County 9-0 Monday night.

Hancock started in the circle and went five innings, giving up just one hit and striking out nine. Harned closed the game out going two innings, giving up one hit and striking out three.

Meanwhile, the Lady Colonels got all the offense they would need scoring three runs in the bottom of the first. The big hit in the inning was a two-run double from Avery Adcock.

Christian County would add two more runs in the third inning to extend the lead to 5-0. Both runs were scored on the same wild pitch.

The Lady Colonels plated three runs in the fourth inning to run the lead out to 8-0. Again, it was Avery Adcock with the big hit, this time a two-run single.

The Lady Colonels would add an insurance run in the bottom of the 6th.

Avery Adcock finished 2-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Pickle Winkler, Riley Hancock, and Karlee Crick added one hit each to the Lady Colonels attack.

The Lady Colonels were aggressive on the basepaths coming up with eight stolen bases on the night.

Christian County is now off until Thursday when they go on the road to take on Logan County.
