Blazers Drop 10-6 Slugfest to Owensboro High

University Heights and visiting Owensboro combined for almost 30 hits on Wednesday, with the Red Devils prevailing 10-6 to hand the Blazers their first loss of the season.

The Blazers took their first lead of the night on a two-run single by Ian Tyler.  After a walk and two singles to start the 2nd, UHA stretched the advantage to 6-1 on a bases-loaded walk and a three-run triple by Tyler.

Owensboro cut the margin to one with a four-run 4th, and tied the game at 6-6 on an RBI single by Blake Kimbell.

The top of the 7th was decisive for the Red Devils, beginning with an RBI single by Cayden Ray.  Evan Hampton provided the coup de grace with a three-run home run over the left-field fence for a 10-6 score.

Jaiden Miles took the loss for the Blazers, working just over four innings and allowing six earned runs on 12 hits with two walks and three strikeouts.

Ryan Luckey was 3 for 3 for the Blazers and Tyler finished 3 for 4 with four RBI.  Nic Luckey, Jackson Flynn, and Miles each collected two hits.

UHA slips to 2-1 ahead of a visit from Trigg County on Saturday.  The Blazers dropped last season’s meeting 4-3 in Cadiz.
