The Fort Campbell Falcons used a 7th inning rally to put an end to a 27 game losing streak Saturday in Mortons Gap. Robert Dennis’ two-run single with one out proved to be the game-winner as the Falcons took down Hopkins Central 8-6.

Early on it looked as if the day would belong to the Storm. Central scored two runs in the first and two more in the second to go up 4-0. The Storm used a wild pitch and a Fort Campbell error to plate their two runs in the first. A hit batter, a walk, and an outfield error allowed the Storm to add the second-inning runs.

A bases-loaded hit batter, a bases-loaded walk, a ground out, a Hopkins Central error, and an RBI single from Ethan Egner sparked a five-run rally for the Falcons in the top of the 4th.

Hopkins Central came right back in the bottom half of the inning. A bases-loaded hit batter and an RBI single from Gage Brasher gave the lead back to the Storm at 6-5.

The game stayed that way until the top of the seventh when the Falcons made their move to claim the game. With one out Felipe Hernandez walked. Andrew Haughenbury reached on a Storm error to give Fort Campbell runners on the corners. After Haughenbury stole second, Dennis came up with his game-winning hit.

Fort Campbell would add an insurance run on an RBI single from Colton Ramos.

Ramos ended the game 1-3 with 2 RBIs and a run scored. Robert Dennis was 1-3 with 2 RBIs and a run scored. Ethan Egner went 2-4 with an RBI. Angel Garcia finished 2-4 with a double.

Aidan Blaszkowski went the distance on the mound for the Falcons, giving up six runs, only two of them earned, striking out eight and walking four.

The win was the first for the Falcons since May 14, 2019, when they beat Dawson Springs 6-4.
