Nate Lang’s walk-off RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the 7th inning gave McCracken County a 3-2 home win over the Hopkinsville Tigers Friday night. The loss was the Tigers’ second straight to open the season.

The walk-off hit capped a two-inning rally that saw the Mustangs score a run in the sixth and the winning run in the seventh after the Tigers had taken a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning.

The Mustangs broke through first in the game when Lang tripled and then scored on a two-out triple from Zach Sims to go up 1-0 in the bottom of the second.

The score stayed that way until the top of the 4th inning. Preston Chaudoin led off the inning with a single and then advanced to second on a sacrifice from Jacob Dilday. Chaudoin scored when Landon Cook hit into a fielder’s choice. Cook would then score on a Tim Cansler triple.

McCracken tied the game in the bottom of the 6th when Nate Lang singled to score Jack Bennett, who had reached base on a triple.

Hoptown continues its early-season difficulties at the plate. The Tigers had only two hits in the contest, both of them coming in the fourth inning rally. McCracken County managed nine hits in the game.

On the mound, Jacob Dilday got the start, going six innings, giving up two runs on seven hits, striking out ten, while walking only one.

The Tigers are scheduled to be back in action Tuesday when they host Caldwell County.
