Rebels’ Strong Start Continues With 5-1 Win Over Webster

Preston Rager turned in six impressive innings on the mound, and Jacob Brandon drove in two runs to help the Todd County Central Rebels move to 3-0 with a 5-1 win over visiting Webster County on Saturday.

The Rebels jumped in front in the bottom of the 1st when Brandon singled in a run, but the Trojans answered with an RBI single by Micah Austin to tie the score in the top of the 2nd.

Rager settled into a groove the rest of the way, yielding no more hits over six innings while striking out eight and issuing two walks.

It was Brandon again in the 3rd with an RBI single to give the Rebels the lead for good.  Jase Hampton followed with a single to bring in another run, and Todd Central led 4-1 after three.

The Rebels added the final runs in the 5th, starting with Dylan Baker’s infield single that brought in Gavyn Nolan.  Hampton came in on Nate Reding’s ground out for the final margin.

Tanner Farmer and Brandon both had two hits for the Rebels.  Hampton, Baker, and Reding each drove in a run.

Chase Hearrin took the loss for the Trojans, lasting four frames while allowing three runs, two earned, on six hits with four walks and five strikeouts.

On Monday, Todd Central is back on their home field when Hopkins County Central comes to Elkton.  The Rebels beat the Storm 23-4 in three innings on Thursday in Morton’s Gap.
