Christian County is off to its best start on the baseball diamond since 2003 following Monday’s 11-1 district win over Fort Campbell at Colonel Field.
The Colonels scored four runs in both the first and second innings in gaining control of the contest.
Christian County had two hits in the first inning but none of them plated a run. Four hit batters and two ground outs did the job in the first
Fort Campbell got on the board in the second inning when Angel Garcia walked, stole second and third, and came home on a throwing error.
The Colonels were progressively able to get runners on base and move them around without the benefit of the big hit.
Elijah Underhill doubled twice and Preston Phan once with Phan driving in two runs. Jenkins drove in three runs without the benefit of a hit.

Carter Sholar had two hits at the plate and pitched an inning of scoreless relief. He was one of four Colonel pitchers who held the Falcons to one hit — a second inning single by Tyler Hansen.
Christian County’s 6-0 start equals the feat set by the 2003 Colonels who lost its seventh game to Trinity. The Colonels will play at Crittenden County Friday.
Fort Campbell, 1-3, is scheduled to play at Todd County Central Tuesday and host Hopkins County Central Friday.
