A 7th-inning rally fell short on Monday in Todd County Central’s 7-4 loss to visiting West Creek.  The setback is the first of the season for the Lady Rebels ahead of a trip to Trigg County on Tuesday.

West Creek posted a pair of runs in three different innings, and led 4-0 in the top of the 3rd after an RBI single by Kaigan Seiber.

The Lady Rebels got a run back in the bottom of the 4th, but the margin was four again after an error allowed West Creek to push a run across in the top of the 6th.

Todd Central was once again within three after a three-base error allowed Karli Herrera to score in the bottom of the 6th.  However, the Coyotes answered in their final at-bat with an RBI triple by Kaelani Jordan and a run on a passed ball for a 7-2 advantage.

After Dakotah Gammon reached on a single to start the bottom of the 7th, the next two Lady Rebel batters were retired.  A pair of walks loaded the bases and runs came in on an error and a wild pitch, before Abigail McPherson’s double brought the tying run to the plate with runners at the corners.

But it wasn’t meant to be for the Lady Rebels and Jocelyn Mock grounded out to end the game.

McPherson took the loss in the circle, going the distance while allowing seven runs, two earned, on seven hits with a pair of walks and 11 strikeouts.  She was also 2/4 at the plate, the only Lady Rebel with two hits.

Haley Elliott earned the win, allowing four runs, three earned, on five hits with three walks and six strikeouts.
