The Christian Fellowship Lady Eagles picked up their third straight win Friday night, taking a big lead and then holding off a rally from the Fort Campbell Lady Falcons to claim a 6-4 victory. The loss was the 2nd straight for the Lady Falcons to open the 2022 season.
Renee Shields hit a two-run,inside-the-park home run to put the Lady Eagles up 2-0. Jayden Jackson connected for an RBI single in the bottom of the 2nd to push the lead out to 3-0.
The lead grew to 4-0 in the bottom of the 4th when Mady Seibert stole home after reaching base when she was hit by a pitch. Later in the inning, Jayden Jackson ripped a two-run triple to make it a 6-0 game.
Just as it looked as if the Lady Eagles might make quick work of the Lady Falcons, the Lady Falcons battled back into the game. In the top of the 5th, with runners on first and second, Jordan Wilkerson singled to score Fort Campbell’s first run of the night. Nadia Velez followed that up with an RBI single to cut the lead to 6-2. Hope Balzeski was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to make it 6-3. Carrie McCrary then hit into a ground out to score another run and close out the rally with the score at 6-4.
But that would be as close as it would get as Jayden Jackson would set down the Lady Falcons in order over the final two innings, as the Lady Eagles held on for the win.
Kallie Bannister, Katelyn Griffey, Jordan Wilkerson, and Nadia Velez, all had one hit each for the Lady Falcons.
Kiley McCrary went the distance in the circle, giving up six runs, on six hits, striking out ten while walking just one.
The Lady Falcons are set to be back in action Monday when they travel to Clarksville Christian.
