Caldwell County grad Derrin Boyd has earned Honorable Mention on the NAIA All-America Basketball Team.
Boyd, who played as a freshman this season at Georgetown College, started all 33 games for the Tigers and led the team in scoring at 16.7 points per game. He ranked sixth in the Mid-South Conference in scoring and ranked second on Georgetown averaging 4.9 rebounds a game.
Boyd was one of five MSC players recognized by the All-America Team.
Thomas More’s Ryan Batte and Freed-Hardeman’s Kortland Martin were named first- and third-team, respectively.
Cumberland’s Tavon King, Boyd and his teammate at Georgetown, Kyran Jones, all earned Honorable-Mention All-America recognition.
All five men’s basketball student-athletes honored were named to the First Team All-MSC this season.
Boyd is a 2019 Caldwell County grad.
Last month, Boyd was named the 2022 Mid-South Conference Outstanding Player of the Tournament after leading Georgetown to the tourney championship. He averaged 19.7 points per game and five assists in three games in the tourney.
