Lyons Rout Graves County to Stay Unbeaten

A late-night start Friday night did not slow down the defending 2nd Region champs. Lyon County started fast and got a big night on the mound from Eli Baker and rolled past Graves County 10-0 in the Big Orange Classic at Marshall County.

The Lyons scored three in the first and three in the second and then blew the game open with four more in the top of the fourth inning.

John Bingham hit a bases-loaded double with two outs in the top of the first to get things going. Eli Baker added an RBI single to put the Lyons up 3-0 after one.

After Graves County had walked the bases loaded in the top of the 2nd, Brody Williams drove in two runs with a single. The Lyons would add one more thanks to an Eagle error to run the lead out to 6-0.

In the 4th, Gunnar Bingham led off the inning with a double. After a hit batter and a walk, the Lyons would score a run on a Graves County error. Jackson Shoulders would score on a fielder’s choice to make it 8-0. Lyon County would score two more runs in the inning on a bases-loaded error by the Eagles.

Meanwhile, on the mound, Eli Baker was lights out. Baker pitched all five innings, giving up no runs, on just two hits, striking out five, while walking none.

John Bingham was 1-3 with a double and 3 RBIs to lead the Lyons. Jackson Shoulders was 1-2 with two runs scored. Brody Williams ended up 1-1 with 2 RBIs and three walks. Gunnar Bingham, Austin Spears, and Eli Baker had one hit each for Lyon County.

The Lyons improve to 4-0 with the win. They are back in action Saturday as they travel to Ballard Memorial.
