University Heights Academy brought home an eighth-place finish Saturday at the 26th annual Invitational of the South track and field meet hosted by Marshall County High School.
As a team, University Heights finished with 37 points, which tied them with Carbondale, Ill. High, 10 points behind Calloway County. There were 19 schools that scored points at what proved to be the largest track and field meet in western Kentucky since the Covid shutdown two years ago.
Connor Dill continued his strong start in the hurdles. The senior won the 300-meter hurdles and appeared on his way to a victory in the 110-meter race. However, runners all day were met with a strong headwind that met them in the home stretch. Dill clipped the final hurdle during a period of gusty winds and fell. He recovered to finish in third place.
Cole Glover also picked up a victory in the freshman 1600-meter run and later took fourth in the 3200-meter run.
